The heat in our heart is what sets us apart. When Robbie and Fernando founded Nando’s, they didn’t just want to serve Chicken. They wanted to serve people too. It’s why at Nando’s we go the extra mile to create opportunities for Nandocas. It’s also why we live by our Values of Pride, Passion, Courage, Integrity and Family. When you live by them too, it’s hard to go wrong.
At Nando’s we believe in helping everyone be the best they can be. Everyone has natural gifts and abilities, and it gives us a real kick to nurture these talents and provide opportunities to help Nandocas (the name of our employees) reach their full potential.
To do this, we’ve got a wide range of learning and development opportunities up our sleeves – each one carefully curated to help Nandocas reach their full potential.
The journey starts with PERi-Basics. From there – because no two journeys are the same – Nandocas can keep learning – as much or as little as they’re comfortable with, and at their own pace. There’s no end to what can be achieved. All that’s needed is the will and the desire to grow.
For those who do, the rewards – through our Casa incentive programmes for high-performing Nandocas – are great. Sound good? You bet it is!
It’s always been about the people that make the Chicken at Nando’s. Always will be. It’s why Nandocas’ wellness is so important to us.
Our Siyaphila Wellness Programme educates and supports Nandocas on financial, emotional, physical and social wellbeing. It doesn’t stop there. Nandocas and their families also have access to Sizani, our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which is available 24/7/365. This service is completely mahala and confidential!
What’s more? Nandocas who are permanently employed in our Corporate Casas are automatically added to medical insurance fully paid by Nando’s so that they can take care of their health.
Changing lives is at the heart of everything we do at Nando’s. It’s our Purpose and what gets us out of bed each morning. This doesn’t just happen by chance. We’ve worked hard to establish initiatives like our PERi-Farms that helps educate and uplift farmers across Southern Africa; Goodbye Malaria which protects millions of lives against this deadly disease each year; and our art, design and music initiatives that afford many Southern African artists the ability to showcase their work worldwide.
But our focus isn’t only external. It starts in our Casas, with Nandocas where we are a Youth Employer partnering with organisations such as Harambee to offer a springboard into the workplace for the youth of South Africa.
Through our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) programme, we create awareness around diversity, inclusion and belonging. We create safe spaces for conversations and action, because at Nando’s, everyone is welcome.
Any Casa Nandoca can enter our annual Grillers’ Challenge where the hottest of the lot can go on to compete globally at the Nando’s International Grillers’ Challenge.
We’ve got countless examples of Nandocas growing from Entry level to Manager, Cashier to Skills Trainer, Griller to Area Manager. Changing lives together fires us up and although we love PERi-PERi Chicken, we love the fact that it enables us to make a difference, even more.
Everyone has a place at our table. It’s why our leave policies around religious days, adoption, growing a family, and annual leave take everyone into account. We think it’s important for Nandocas to celebrate their individuality and to have enough time to rest, so that they can be the best version of themselves. One thing’s for sure – it’s definitely not all work and no play at Nando’s!
